Lashes Be Long

If you suffer from hypotrichosis, this blog post is for you. Not to be confused with hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating, hypotrichosis is the not-so-simple case of inadequate or not enough lashes.

There is a community amongst the truly afflicted, a band of brothers who understand the pain and agony it takes to lengthen ones lashes. For some, this means makeup drawers filled with mascaras and broken promises. For others, it is the constant upkeep of false lashes and a necessary comfortability with applying glue to the lash-line. And for most, it is the ongoing frustration with products that boast the ability to lengthen, darken, retexturize and multiply lashes that in reality, never do.

There is a solution. Latisse is a prescription eyelash product that results in natural longer, fuller, darker eyelashes.

There are three stages of hair growth:
– Anagen, the active growth phase
– Catagen, the transition phase, and
– Telogen, the resting phase

Applied by brushing the solution across the lash line, Latisse is believed to prolong the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle, which in turn produces increased length, thickness and darkness. Four months into the clinical trial, participants reported eyelashes that were 25% longer, 106% fuller and 18% darker, with a 78% improvement in “overall eyelash prominence”.

It should be noted that is not a permanent solution; discontinued use will gradually return eyelashes to their previous appearance.

For those with eyelashes that could do with a boost, visit your doctor and he can assess to see whether you are a candidate for this product!

Rock the Red Carpet

February is a particularly busy time for celebrities (but then again, when isn’t?!) as they find themselves in the middle of award season. Finding the perfect red carpet ensemble can be tricky, but accessorizing can be very simple: great skin goes with everything!

What can be done to create red-carpet-worthy skin? Laser treatments, like Laser Genesis, can be helpful in reducing pore size and improving the overall texture of one’s skin. It also works on redness, fine lines and wrinkles. Hydrafacial, a hydrating microdermabrasion system, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates, leaving the skin glowing.

In case you weren’t invited (we’re convinced all of our invitations got lost in the mail), there are also simple tips you can try at home to achieve a glowing, radiant complexion.

Exfoliate your skin, using a chemical agent, like AHA, or a mechanical agent like a scrub. Remember to be gentle when using scrubs, as they can cause skin irritation if used too aggressively. A clay mask can also help to decongest pores and lift impurities off of the face.

And of course, always wear sunscreen!
